Election campaigning and polls

Election campaigning in polling places is prohibited. The purpose of the prohibition is to create in polling places a neutral environment where the voter is no longer influenced or invited to change their decision. The prohibition does not extend to the entire building where the polling place is located.

In the polling place, it is forbidden to distribute materials connected with election campaign, to call to vote for a candidate, a party or an election coalition, or to wear clothing with election advertising. The polling place must be free of political advertising. The polling place may not be exposed to political advertising from outside.

Peace and order in the polling place are ensured by the voting district committee, whose oral orders are mandatory for all persons in the polling place. In the event of a breach of the prohibition on election campaigning, the Police and Border Guard Board interferes.

Conducting of public opinion polls during the elections period and on election day is not prohibited.
