Today is the municipal councils elections day
19.10.2025
Today, the new councils of cities and rural municipalities are elected. All 356 polling places across Estonia are open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. I-voting is not possible today.
Estonian citizens and citizens of other Member States of the European Union who have attained 16 years of age by the election day have the right to vote at local government elections in Estonia. Stateless persons have the right to vote if they have attained 16 years of age and reside permanently in Estonia. Citizens of third countries no longer have the right to vote.
I-voting ended at 8 p.m. on Saturday, but if necessary, an i-voter can still change their i-vote by voting with a ballot paper at a polling place today.
To vote at a polling place, you need to bring a valid identity document; you cannot verify your identity by using the eesti.ee app at a polling place. Information on the location and accessibility of polling places is available at www.valimised.ee.
Voting ends at 8 p.m.; after that, the counting of both paper ballots and i-votes begins. Counting of i-votes is carried out by the State Electoral Office and it can be followed live on the webpage www.valimised.ee. The transmission starts at 7 p.m. with preparatory activities. The votes cast at polling places are counted by the rural municipality and city electoral committees. The voting results are published on the webpage www.valimised.ee.
On 20 October, the votes are counted for the second time.
