Today at 9 a.m., i-voting starts, and at 12 noon, polling places open their doors in local governments and Tallinn district centres. All the 377 polling places are welcoming voters from Friday onwards.

I-voting starts today at 9 a.m. and is open round the clock until 8 p.m. on Saturday, 8 June. To vote online, the voter needs to download the voter application from the page www.valimised.ee. The application is published on the opening page just before voting starts. The voter also needs a computer with an internet connection and an ID card for personal identification, along with an ID-card reader or a mobileID and PIN codes. Smart-ID and smart devices cannot yet be used to vote at these elections. 

However, the voter can use their smart phone to check within 15 minutes of voting whether their i-vote has arrived in the central election server and expresses their choice correctly. To do this, they need to download the EH kontrollrakendus (IV verification application) to their phone from Google Play or App Store or update the application to get the newest version. 

If the voter feels that their voting security might have been compromised at the moment of voting, they can change their vote by voting again online by Saturday evening. If a voter has voted both electronically and by using a paper ballot, only the vote cast at the polling place will count. The voter’s last chance to change their i-vote is by voting with a ballot paper at a polling place on Sunday, the election day.
At the European Parliament elections, Estonia constitutes one electoral district, which covers the whole of Estonia. This means that all the polling places are open across Estonia for all voters regardless of their registered place of residence. 

From Monday to Thursday of the election week, it is possible to vote in the centres of rural municipalities and cities as well as districts of Tallinn between 12 noon and 8 p.m. On the election week, from Friday to Sunday, all the 377 polling places of Estonia are open. More information on polling places is available at www.valimised.ee.

If the voter finds it difficult to make their way to the polling place because of their health or any other reason, they may apply to vote at home. The application must be addressed to the local government. This can be done in writing even now. An oral request can be made via the telephone number provided by the local government on Friday and Saturday from 12 noon until 8 p.m., or on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

By the election day, 9 June, all the polling places are open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. This is followed by the counting of the paper ballots and i-votes starting at 8 p.m. The results of the European Parliament elections may not be disclosed before the voting has ended in all the European Union Member States. The State Electoral Office publishes the preliminary voting results at midnight, which is when Italy closes its polling places as the last country to do so.
