State Electoral Office calls for vigilance over the election period
01.06.2024
The State Electoral Office would like to remind the voters before the European Parliament elections that the official web page of the elections is www.valimised.ee. This provides information on voting and allows the voter application to be downloaded.
The safest way to reach it is by typing the address www.valimised.ee in the address bar of the web browser yourself to avoid ending up on a fake page with a similar name. The i-voter application can only be downloaded from www.valimised.ee.
It is also important to keep in mind that neither the organisers of the elections nor any other authority ever asks for the personal data of the voters, including their PIN codes, by phone or text. If this happens, hang up immediately and notify the police.
The State Electoral Office would also like to remind the voters that voting is secret. The secrecy is important for the protection of the voters—nobody needs to know whether, how, or for whom the voter voted.
Invocations to share information on your ballot paper or i-voting must be ignored. If a voter has been manipulated into revealing whom they voted for electronically, they have the possibility of changing their i-vote by voting again.
The European Parliament elections in Estonia will take place on the week of 3–9 June 2024. I-voting and advance voting in polling places takes place on 3–8 June. On the election day, 9 June, it is possible to vote only in polling places.
